having doc break my nose

i need my nose broke as the middle is not straight and it causes a sore every few years were the stiff bit isnt centered. 15 years ago a doc told me he could stick metal rods up my nose and break and reset it. then i found out he was planing to do it right there and then so i kinda paniced and said thats ok as i was making a b-line for the exit. i figure that i go to the vets every 10-15 years (stitch's dont count as thats just patch work) so maybe its time to man up and have it broke im just wondering if anyone else has had this done. when i was a teenager and drunk getting my nose broke didnt seem to hurt that much but now im 40 plus im figuring its going to hurt like hell and im going to have panda eyes for a few weeks. the idea of of the metal rods kinda makes me cringe so im also wondering if the docs have come past the stone age way of fixing it and come up with a nicer way to nudge the stiff bit back into shape. i can also wait another 10 years if theres anything new being devoloped to fix a slightly bent nose.

You'll be under for the break, so no problems there. The bleeding will be stopped with a bunch a gauze stuffed up your nostrils. After healing the gauze will be removed with one quick yank. That is the killer! Putting the brain back in that you're sure was removed is optional.

doc didnt mention being out for it.....he didnt even seem to mention numbing it....he just went to a cabinet and came back with 2 stainless rods...thats when i made a run for it.

I had it done when I was about 18 (so many years ago) by the same method. I had mucho gauze and straws to breath thru. Wasn't really that bad that I recall. Could breath reasonably better, but the doc said he would like to get back in there and fine tune it a bit. Never gave him the opportunity to do so. Breath Right strips are the answer now.

i guess theres a diffrence between nhs and private docs so im going to have to book a appointment with a nose specialist so i can get my insurance to say its medical required, then i can get a referal to the one who does the breaking part. im so happy to learn that its going to hurt way worse when its broke rather than the short sharp pain of breaking it. i was hoping that a quake could do it so i could also get the bb cut out the back of my head at the same time....like a 2 for 1 deal. i hate the thought of the bill nearly as much as i hate the visit to the docs which is why i dont go for minor things like cracked ribs. this nose thing is more anoying as everytime i blow my nose my eyes water (at least it doesnt look to bad from the outside). i was kinda hopping for a accidental break so i could set it while im sobber cause i swear it looked straight in the mirror last time but then again i was drunk so maybe there was more than one of me in the mirror that night.
