Well I caught around a 2.5 pound bass on the jitter bug but I didn't get it in the boat :(, I got it to the side of the boat and went to lift it in then it got off.

That is the only fish I caught on it so far. The fish were not biting otherwise not matter what we fished with :(.

Interesting link jennis. I might even have get some other ideas from that.

I made another lure, my version of a buzz bait. I shaped it like a torpedo and put some grooves in it like a cork screw. I put a small fan blade on it. I have tried it out on the pond out back before I painted it and it works, stays on top of the water pretty good. The way I designed the lure I made it where the whole lure will spin with the blade, it only has one big treble hook on it.

Sweet! Now you know that your lures work! :D I think a 1-off lure is better than throwing what everyone else is, fish haven't seen it before...

Yep that is true. My next lure is going to be an inline buzz bait, I am going t make a torpedo shaped wooden head and make a blade out of a paint can bottom and make a trailer and hook a treble hook to it.

Re: Have you ever made your own lures?

Well I made yet another Jitterbug for my own use and I caught 2 bass on it (1) 1 lb 6 oz and the other a 4 lb 11 oz spotted bass. The 4 lber is the biggest bass I have ever caught. I made a jitterbug for my cousin and painted it the same color as the one showed in the picture but I put a bigger blade or lip on his, also made one for my brother but I did a different paint scheme for him and put a big lip on his.

I also caught a 3 lb 11 oz and a 2 lb ll oz bass on a Bill Dance Excaliber top water lure. Caught a couple of others on the excaliber but either they were 2small or I didn't get them in the boat. It was pretty good fishing this past labor day holiday weekend. The weather was great for a majority of the weekend. You can see my uncle's lot behind the picture of the lure, he has a really nice view of the lake. If I look tired in the picture it is because I was tired.

Here are a couple of pictures.
