Have I toasted my rectifier/regulator?

Dear smarter mechanics than me:

1994 E175 Intruder
Overheated from stuck thermostat - limped home.
Replaced thermostats, water pump; runs great!
Does not charge batteries.
Volt meter test 12.3 across battery terminals running or not - no difference.
Stator wires not connected to ground (infinite resistance)
Tachometer erratic and jumpy

New part (#439561) costs 240 bucks OUCH

Is rectifier toast?

If so, OEM or aftermarket part? Thanks! [h=1][/h]

Have you tried to read the voltage on the stator side of the rectifier? It will be AC voltage so set the meter accordingly. If you have voltage there and can't read any DC voltage on the other side (output side) of the rectifier, then yes it is bad. JMHO!

Thanks! I'll run the AC voltage test.

Any opinions on the OEM vs. Sierra replacement part?

She runs 18 volts AC across the stator wires the at idle.

0.7 ohms resistance across stator wires turned off.
