That's a 1964 28hp you have there. I've got a '62 myself.
Additional info:
Displacement: 35.7 cubic inches
Fuel/Oil ratio: 50:1 using 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil.
Spark plugs: Champion J4C replacing the old J4J, gapped at .030"
Lower unit fluid: OMC/BRP HiVis, or equivalent 90 weight outboard gearcase lube.
According to the L in the model number, the engine left the factory longshaft to fit a 20" boat transom. If it's still present, there will be a 5" spacer bolted between the lower unit and the midsection.
