Re: Hate to Admit it..

Gonefishin in the lake I fish all the time we have only tigers also. Years ago there were some purebreads but for some odd reason they did not do well. The tigers thrive very well though. You are right about haveing a fight on your hands when you hook up with one of these bad boys. The last one caught hit a top water bait only three feet from the boat with a mighty thrashing talk about your heart leaping into your throat :)

ah, cool ..

looks like the freshwater barracuda we have in joisey, big pike ... caught what I guess was a three pound bass, big pike came along and clobbered it, talk about a battle, lol, came in the boat snappin his jaws and ready to battle

funny thing

catch crappie, bluegill, trout, whatever, ducks will waddle over to see if they can nibble something off of it

catch a pike - either the big pike or the chain pickrel, and ducks give those bad boys a wide berth

guess they got treated like KFC too many times!

dept of fish and wildlife were concerned about the decline of gamefish in the uppr mid west - so they set about to create a hybrid

they utilized the coho salmon for ita delicious flavor

the walleye for its cunning nature

the musky was chose for fierce fighting ability

they named the fish a Cowalski (Kowalski) and had to teach the dumb son of a biitch how to swim!!!

LOL

Re: Hate to Admit it..

Well thanks again guys for clearing this up...
Was just reading today that the Tigers have been
put into several lakes (8-10) around here to
correct a problem created by our fish and wild
life people.. (go figure) but But BUT now you
have me excited!!!! Yes! I'm going to send a link
(not me) to my fishing pard to this thread! :)
Now the last one I heard of in Mayfield lake was over 6 feet long... is this normal? I was talking to the guy who caught it that day at the time and had pic's.. nasty looking teeth! Try Noodeling for that creature hehe
A: Are they good eating?
There are only two types of fish I like to eat..
Chicken of the Sea Tuna Fish (Sorry Charlie)
or Fish Sticks..(Charlie frozen)
neither of which I have learned to catch ...
B: What type of rigs / bait do you use for these
Gators... see I'm learning :p

Link

Link...that would be a dream come true bur i think the record for anywhere in the states is 58"...if true she would be at least fifty years old and weigh well over fifty lbs.

A 30" gator gator will make for some fun..heaven forbid on eatn the warrior..the fin gods would look upon you with extreme disfavor. Need some heavy duty rigs not counting the bucks involved buying the lures. Folks get discouraged when pursuing these fins cause the hits are few compared with the number of hours involved spent trying to get one to smack...but when they do,oh boy..

Now thats a lure FH. Bet you could fling that one a fer piece. Just bought me a new cradle for catch and release and it ran me over 100 bucks..so much for my fin allowance..

Hehe LOL Flahthead
And gonfishn and all the others thanks for the
information. Had dinner this evening with my
fishing pard... after reading this tread he still
doesn't want to have anything to do with the
warrior of all fish! But I insulted him enough
in front of friends that he agreed to at least
try for them this summer!

gonfishn: Do ya think that a fellow fisherman
back in 1993 mite of streched the truth a wee
bit about the size of that tiger muskie???
THINK :)

Sure looked big from the pic though :)

Link

Re: Hate to Admit it..

I still am reeling at the "We only have tiger Muskies statement". I sure wish I knew a lake around here that only had tigers. They are the hardest fighting type. Before you drop your line for one, make sure your drag is working well and you will have the time of your life.

As for eating Musky, that is not recommended. beside the fact that they is full of bones and hard to fillet, they are too nice of a fish, that takes too long to grow big to eat. Just take a camera, and measurements if you want a replica, then gently release back into the wild to be caught again.
