I have a 1988 20hp tiller Mercury on a 14' Northwoods boat. It requires what I consider an unusual amount of pressure on the tiller to maintain a straight course. I have to continually maintain heavy pressure pulling to the right. Making turns does not seem to require an abnormal amount of pressure either way.

Yes, I have lubed the tiller.

Any suggestions other than buffing up my left arm?

Re: Hard steering

you can adjust the tab above the prop. adjust it in the direction the motor wants to pull. bolt in center. may take a little tinkering to get it in the best postion.
