I have been having trouble starting my 1988 SPL the first time, every time out. I crank it for a bit, and let it rest. When I finally get it to hit, it still takes a few more tries to get it going and then it starts easy the rest of the day. I usually prime the bulb until hard, and them some. Last night I thought I would try a different starting procedure by only priming the bulb until I feel a little resistance, thinking I was flooding the motor. The motor started right up, but shot a flame out the prop at mother-in-law(was on water muffs, the motor not mother-in-law). The motor has 120-125 psi all around, it times out at 4BTDC at idle. I assume I have been flooding it at initial start up, but what about the flame? I had the fast idle up all the way at the time.

I'd say the motor was trying to tell you something about the mother in law. Work with it. :)

That was actually funny. I hadn't laughed in a day or two. Thanks.

quack
