Later today we are going down to Maryland to pick up our 24ft Pontoon boat. I had the engine serviced because of the harsh winter we had this year. It as winterized but I just wanted to make sure everything was ok before putting the boat in the water. The Marina called me last week to tell me that the number one carb was clogged up and it had to be rebuilt. So yesterday I got the call to pick it up. I wonder how much this will be. any Ideas. I'll post the price after I pick the boat up.

I suspect it will be around 250-300 for the carb rebuild plus the other "service items" will add another 3-500.

That sounds pricey to me......but again boat repairs are never cheap

It came out too $599,98. They had said $500.00

for a single carb clean? That is nuts. Should of gotten your hands dirty and done it yourself. It really is not difficult to learn.

What all did they do or charge you for? Carb rebuild and what else? I take it the estimate was 500 plus the 100 for the carb.

Yikes. 80/100 bucks an hour plus parts.

I knew that sounded pricy. I just looked and you can get a rebuilt kit for $30
Figure an our labor $100

What did the other $470 go towards?

I would be pissed

If I had done it myself It would cost me even more money to fix the screw up that I had done. That's why I get the pros fix it. If they screw it up it's on them not me.. Now all I have to do is wait to get some of my friends to come down so we can go Crabbing or Go out in the bay Rock fishing.
