I have a 1990 GT100 johnson that has always started fine for me I have only had it for two years never had a problem when I turn the key on there is a faint whistle sound that has always been there guessing this is normal, at the lake yesterday after backing in when I hit the switch it would turn over but would not fire so we pulled off the ramp and took the hood off and I noticed the whistle sound and the clicking sound of the choke were not present when the switch was turned on so I started to wiggle different wires on the engine and the click and whistle both came back, put the boat back in the water and it fired right up never had an issue with it the rest of the day. Any guesses as to what I must have wiggled to right the problem so I know what to look for if I have problems again? Thanks for any ideas...

Re: GT100 start question

the big red connector, that is the wiring harness to the controller. disconnect and clean. also could have been a battery cable. clean those connections also, engine and battery ends.
