Hi. I'm new to the forum and boat renovation so wanted to ask a few questions about the renovation of GRP.

My budget is very tight so rather than use marine products, are there any products that can be bought from DIY stores or supermarkets that do just as good a job of cleaning old, dirty and stained fiberglass and gel coat.

The same for getting rid of mold stains and killing mold spores (is household bleach OK on fiberglass?). The boat I've recently bought had a nasty 'shoe sized' piece of fungi growing on the fiberglass out of sight under the top lip the transom -Nice!

Also, what products would you reccommend for:

A: Cutting and polishing the gel coat
B: Minor gel coat repair.
C: Spider crazing in Gel coat
D: Painting the fiberglass inside - (would I need a primer?)
E: Rust stains
F: 3 inch split in the PVC rubbing strake
G: Vinyl cushions
H: Alloy/Aluminium 'furring'

I'm from the UK so I may not be familiar with brand names in North America - but I guess I could always Google them to see if we have an alternative over here.

Thanks folks.
