grounding aluminum boats

are u supposed to ground the battery to the hull of an aluminum boat? thanks guys

NO, NO, NO. NEVER!

Do not ground anything to the hull.

Hi Shamus Welcome to iboats! Please start a new thread and not hijack one from the archives.

However....... in an aluminum boat NOTHING ever should be grounded to the hull or it will create electrolysis and create a galvanic reaction which will eat away the aluminum hull.

Not unless there is a source of power outside of the boat that has a connection to the earth.

The battery terminal has a positive which is the outside source. This post is now closed since it has been hijacked.
