Grommets to pass cables through splashwell

I'm closing in on summer and have two Evinrude Big Twins on the transom of the Texas Maid. I plan on installing two leads from the battery to connector posts screwed into the transom, so I can use shorter red & black cables from each outboard (equipped with starter buttons). I'm thinkin...drill a hole under each outboard in the splashwell and install a rubber grommet so the cables from each motor can drop down through the splashwell to the transom-mounted connector posts. So...what's the best way to drill a hole big enough for two battery cables through splashwell aluminum? Anyone done this? Back the under side with wood and just drill through? How do you size a rubber grommet for this application. Hate to drill the splashwell, but there's too much clutter in there with four control cables. Pix of the Maid and splashwell layout are attached. A 56 Lark has replaced the little Johnson 18 in the splashwell layout pix.

Wow...way cool! Thanks CAT. Found the remote battery post connectors here on Iboats, but went into brain freeze on grommets.
