I have an '06, Lowe, 24' pontoon. I've got 2 side gates. I have the rail mounts and the same type gas grill you have mounts on the right gate. A couple of things to consider why I did that over a pedestal mount.
It extends over the side, so no hot grease issues on my carpet, or worries about my seats. It's a handy place to stand, between the one bench and the console, plus gives me side support and hand holds when waves come. Also lets me put the cover down in front, further protects the floor and reduces the chance the wind catches the cover. And just open the gate to get access for screwing the canister off and on and removing/installing the grill. It's great to be able to stand out of the way when you have a good load of people. The grill is also stowed there. I use to just keep it mounted all season, even when towing ( cover on of course) as the boat was kept at a floating dock. But now I'm in a marina slip and the mounting supports hit a pole when secured.
The only place I could put a pedestal mount is on the forward 2.5 ft. section past my furniture and rail on the front. Trust me, any waves for whatever reason sways you pretty good, It'd be a pain for me to try and cook there. There's no way I'd substitute my table or add another mount in the center between my seats. However, a pedestal mount is more convenient for setting up and stowing away....
I'm going on 2 years now with my camping canister, but we don't cook that much. I'd hate to have to stow a 20lb canister. I carry a spare.
