I have a 20' Hurricane Fun Deck with a 4.3 liter and a Yamaha outdrive.
I bought the boat over the winter. Had it out like everyone else over the weekend and things could not have gone better..............right up until I started having acceleration issues.
I was cruising with the tack reading 4300 RPMs and all of a sudden the RPMs dropped to 3300. I shut her down, check the boat over and couldn't find a reason so I took off again. This time it went right back up to 4300 RPMs for a short distance and dropped down again. Now when I take off, the RPMs sit right at 3300 while the boat is trying to plain out. After several minutes it gets on plain but the engine kind of acts like it wants to jump up in RPMs but doesn't.
I've checked all wiring and can't find a short. Took the arrestor off and there appears to be plenty of gas getting to the carb. The engine revs up just fine when in neutral. It'll rev as high as I want it to go.
Any suggestions????? I'm at a loss
