Mr. Grassl owned a hole-in-the-wall shop a few blocks east of the Buffalo International airport. He made truck fenders for many years. In the 1960's with the surge to fiberglass boats, and with his expertise making FG parts, he bought 2 boat molds. If my memory serves me correctly, they were both closed bow outboard runabouts, 16 and 18 footers.
About as basic as you could get. Back-to-back seats and a windshield. They were even more spartan than an MFG of the era.
I had contemplated buying one from him, but he would not take a trade. I ended up with a Silverline instead, sold by a real marine dealer.
Memories, memories.....He has long been gone. An office building complex replaced his building.
