Okay, I'm new to all this computer magic and at least two generations behind the wiz-kids. That said, I have a Garmin Nuvi 500/550 that I would like to add navigation charts of the lower Chesapeake Bay and the Tidewater area. It is my understand that I need to install the correct BlueChart SD card (totally Greek to me). I have noticed a port beneath my battery pack. Does this card install there and then reinstall the battery or do I need some sort of adaptor cable or download function??
(I DID do a search but all the previous questions/answers were beyond me !!!)

I don't own one of these but according to the online manual for it, you can install a MicoSD card in the slot behind the battery or download from your computer using a USB cable. I don't know if they make chart chips in the MicroSD, so you may have to download them.

Hope this helps.

I've been thinking about this a little more, if you have a card reader and a microSD adaptor you might be able to program the chip and then put it in the chip slot behind the battery. This way you don't have to take the unit to the computer or the computer to the unit.
