Acording to the weather tonight, La ninia shall have its effect on the S.W. USA for 3-6more months. Above average temps and below ave. rainfall. Gosh aint that great, early fishing season, if we can find water to fish in. And wait till March gets here and the wind starts to blow. OH boy nice tall dust storms, wildfire moving at 60 to 70 mph. If I could find deep enough water Id just drown myself. :(  :(

The low water level makes the fishing easier. They are all concentrated in one area and you just bend over and pick up the ones you want. Be sure and run a hook through the jaw so the game warden doesn't get upset with ya.

Re: Good news S.W. USA /RANT RANT RANT

Coons are getting them faster than me KB, when I try to seining them they are going under the lead line.

We have a creek nearby with a good hole af water that has never been dry, I have been moving fish from my drying up tanks to the creek. But its just rod and reel catches Im moving. looks like JBs deal Im gonna loose my stock. Damn shame to move my private stock to public waters but thats the way it goes sometime.

Hauled about half our cattle to the sale today. No feed, very little water. We will take a whipping on the cattle sales. Sale barn pens were full, with the drouth and the fires everybody is in the same boat around here. figure Ill loose around $8000 from a normal sale. Ouch. then I come in and the weather man says 3-6 more months of dry weather, that puts us through spring or nearly so. As the old timers say and it true through the 4 or so ive seen "never has a drouth been broke in the fall". so outlook is bleak for the next year.

Yea Im disscusted as hell. Ive put 25 years of hard work and my life into that little bunch of cows.

Oh well aint nothing but a thing. Been through it befour. Good time for the "Old Man" to step out and let the young-bloods worry about it for a while. Im gonna go fishing.

I better go back and eddit and make this a rant.
I knew I was in a pi$$y mood when I wouldnt get involved in the Political/Religious threads.Id probably blow a cork. THanks for hearing this rant.

My creek is just about dry and its my only water source. We do have comm water available but its like $600 plus I have to install everything and then the monthly bill too. I could take them to my grandfathers estate though I guess. It has a 53 acre lake that is spring fed. The water is only about 4 inches below the spillway, still looking great. 5 of the mares will foal in the early spring so I really want to keep them where I can keep track of them better. Sorry to hear about the loss on the cattle. Someone today actually gave away 15 goats to the first one to show up. Sure wish I hadn't been at work.

Heycods: Do I puchase meat now?? From what you state the market is oversold. And therefore we will have a shortage in the months to come.
I'm serious. As a grocery store meat buyer, should I stock up my freezer now?

Hard to say. It hasnt went down any in the stores here. I would think it depends on how wide-spread the drouth is. If it covers enough area it will certainly effect prices later, they should fall. While were selling off cattle the feed lots will fill up, price goes down, some feedlots will try to hang on and cattle will be penalized for being to much conditioning ( too fat)In the past thier have been some big losses in the feedlot business, but most of the small operations have already went under in years past. The BIG boys (ADM ect)are in the game now. So I dont know how It will shake out. But when the drouth is over and all the ranchers start holding their heffirs back for breeding it will take a large chunk of cattle that would normaly go on feed for butcher. then prices should rise. Historically 1.5 to 2 years after drouth prices should spike. this is all just my humble opinion. If I was all that damx smart I wouldnt be in the bussiness. HEY Im smart, :D Im getting out.

Maby I didnt answer your question right. I wouldnt wont a frezer full of beef at todays prices if it starts to fall. the trick would be where to know where it bottoms out and starts to rise. WHO knows, you could get filthy rich on the cattle futures if you did.

Yep. That would be just fine. Bring spinner baits and worms. Expect 1.5- 2 pounders consistantly.
