Re: Good information for what its worth

In my best guess, no you have no water in the foam. The manufacturers dry weight for the boat is just really low. Also, weigh the trailer alone. Maybe it really weighs 1750lbs. That means your boat isn't that heavy.
From the pictures I saw on boat trader of other ones for sale, that total weight didn't surprise me at all. You see what my guess was. My dad's Chaparral Signature 27 weighed about 8500 on its trailer, and it definately had no water in the hull.

A 7.4 doesn't weigh that much more than a 5.7. A Mercruiser 496 B2 weighs 1199, and a 350MAG MPI B2 weighs 1037. And don't forget a 496MAG has standard closed cooling.

The boat has other options that added weight. Plus the fuel and antifreeze.

I wouldn't be concerned about water in the hull at all. It's a widely known fact that boat manufacturers' weights for their boats are a lie at worst, a total guess at best.
Oops. My bad. I looked at the wrong column. The actual difference is around 225lbs between the 350MAG & 7.4l MPI, at least according to Stingray boats.

That's ok bekosh. Also part of that weight difference is an Alpha to a Bravo. I guess Muskie's boat's standard engine could have been a 350MAP Alpha, and he's got a 7.4 Bravo 2. Just even more reason to not believe he's got a bunch of trapped water.

Didn't mean to scare ya with the foam comment Muskie. Almost all boats will carry some water somewhere due to poor fitment in the rigging or customer add-ons not being properly sealed. You are not carrying enough extra weight to worry about IMO, but I would still drill a few small inspection holes for peace of mind. Easily resealed with 5200 or Tek.

Boats over 20' are not required to have foam floatation so it is likely that this 26' boat won't have any.
