Gonna need a few pics to make an educated decision on condition etc. Have you inspected this rig yet?

Sounds like an okay deal, if it is fish ready and has no major issues.

I think the pics are hear now, I have not looked at the boat. I was just wondering what you guys thought about it. Being a poor college kid I'm not quite sure I want to limit myself to a boat that is unsuitable to duck hunting , another priority.

Yeah if you want a boat to fish, hunt, ski and take hot babes out on this one may be a little limiting. Honestly though if you could get that boat (and floor transom trailer and motor are in good shape) for $2500 then Id say you have bragging rights. Id do it if I needed a boat, and had the cash. No question.

Re: Good Deal?

I would try to talk him down a bit on the price, not that it is way out of line but that is just how it is done.

Looks like a real nice boat, very similar to mine but I have 2 casting decks, I can tell you it won't be fast, I run a 50 on mine and get between 26-30 mph so with a 40 you would be a bit less than that but the boat itself looks real nice and it even has a bimini top, if you can't fish on that you can't fish on anything.

Check it cover really well an if you can't take it out on the water at the very least have them start the engine and make sure it is cold before he starts it, there aare a hundred threads on what to look for with a used boat.

Re: Good Deal?

I really like that boat, and I think that's a fair price assuming it's as solid as it appears, including the motor. Pics can't tell you anything about how well it runs of course. Deep V, bimini top, wide open floor plan, nice big front deck with storage, FCTM. That's a great boat, but....... Not sure how great it would be for bowfishing. V hulls are much better for rough water and safety but don't make the best platforms for things like trying to aim an arrow at a carp. As for duck hunting, I think it would do fine provided we aren't talking about really skinny water. It's pretty wide open in the middle, which means there's room for dekes and dogs, and that rod locker down the side should hold a shotgun or two. I'd want to put something down to protect the carpet when duck hunting. I say that's a mighty nice rig for a poor college kid.:p Welcome aboard.

By the way, jr., it will help us help you decide whether a price for a given boat is reasonable if you'll tell us where you are. You can add it to your profile.

Re: Good Deal?

Thanks you guys, I'll add my location. I was really thinking about this rig because my motor on my 14 alum. rowboat has been really acting up. I was hoping to find another boat bigger, before striper season on the Hudson. We worked on my motor until 11 o clock last night and hopefully we have it finally figured out(knock on wood). We'll see later on the water, I would like to just use mine for the rest of the fishing season and wait until fall to really start looking for another one if I could help it.
