Thanks,
Anyone know of the evinrude motors on gas? are they gas suckers?

Were the trophy good platforms?

Please don't think I'm lazy by not searching online. I search online but would like to also hear from people here :)
Thanks!!

It's an old two stroke outboard, it's gonna suck gas. If you are truly looking for fuel economy then (besides finding another hobby) be prepared to spend a boatload on a newer 4 stroke outboard. Second, Bayliner is a lower end model boat. On an 80's model boat, besides the most important stuff mentioned above, be prepared to find alot of spider cracks in the gel coat, loose or missing fittings, guages that don't work, crow's nests for wiring, and alot of small headaches that continuously pop up. It's the nature of the beast when you are in that age of boats. You need to compression check each cylinder of that outboard. That is a must. Any low cylinder and you walk away. You also need to thoroughly check the transom. You should be able to stand on the cavitation plate of the lower unit and bounce up and down a bit with absolutely no flex in the transom. Soft spots in the deck are not good either. Walk around the entire deck feeling for spongy spots. While replacing a small piece of soft deck is not a huge issue for the inclined, finding out the stringers underneath are rotted will completely ruin your day.

Ok, weather has been horrible here. It finally cleared up yesterday and the guy sold it yesterday to another person.

I'm now looking at 2 more boats

First one is a bayliner capri 22' from 1986
Has Volvo transmission, heater changer, new fabric on seats and was recently painted, he is asking $5000 for it.

Second one is a marquis cuddy cabin 20' from 1978 price is $4300
recently had the floor changed, new bimini, new seats and new gauges.

Any reviews from Marquis boats? I couldn't find much about them, Bayliners aren't the best but I'm not looking to get into huge waves with it. I will probably be navigating behind the bertram always, if not pulled.

"I'd think twice unless you're ready to become a permanent iBoater who learns quickly what the 4 letters in the word boat really stand for."

He is referring to "Break Out Another Thousand" or you could also end up falling under the group of "Broke Old And Tired" or "Buy Old And Transform"

All 3 happen to people here on Iboats

Then there is the best [most desired ] meaning that i saw here on the forum... BEST OF ALL TIMES !!! :p;):):D

What's powering the Marquis? Both look good in the pictures. It sounds like you guys have to pay a lot more in Puerto Rico, because your options are limited. I checked Craigslist down there and there isn't a bunch for sale like up here. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks emoney

I haven't asked him yet.
I also found a cobalt from 1989 in awesome condition. for $7300
Has everything I may ever need, GPS, Depth finder, AC

I have around $5000 right now to spend on a boat.
Probably when I gather the extra 2k the boat will be gone.
Damn, it looks really good.

Just went today and definitely needs work. The floor and the fabric. Inside the cabin also and I found a soft spot so it's a no go.

I'm gonna go see the cobalt tomorrow I hope. Seems like it's in great cond.
