hey gents !

i have a new fuel filter/ water separator before the pump and just replaced the fuelpump filter also - so two new filters .

now i have a third one - the small filter at the end of the fuelline going inside the carb. this filter is non available so i think to just going without it- with the separating fuel filter and a new fuelpump filter i cannot imagine what else than very clean fuel can enter the carb- but i may be wrong and overlook something.

how crucial is this tiny filter when you have TWO filter units infront of it ? ( 3.0 GS )

thanks for suggestions !

Volvo motor according to your profile, what carb is it,never seen one that I couldn't get a filter for.I'd do my best to find one,no matter how many filters ya got, that one is the last failsafe in the line.....

Those stone filter elements are pretty common. Have you taken it to a good auto parts store to see if they can match it?

The problem with saying you have a 3.0GS is the fact that it only says you have a 4 cylinder engine made by GM. Nothing about the carbs, or anything else. They do change year to year.

The full model number is what is needed for accurate answers.

Here is a list of the different 3.0GS engines.

don, GS PNCA , the same engine you helped greatfully with the "loosing power at WOT" which now i seem to have solved .

carb is a holley .

was like said not able in germany to get the tiny carb fuel line filter and it looks like it would never in engine life had been changed. i temporarily removed it - and the engine ( like said, with a new water separating filter and new fuel pump filter ) seems to run very nice now. i do not want to force the engine lean with a clogged "last" filter and i,m curious if this filter will have any use with TWO filters infront of it.

Re: going without carb fuel filter

You could probably run without it, but think about one thing. The filter in the fuel pump filters what is going into the fuel pump. If the pump diaphragm starts to fail for what ever reason, the debris from it goes into the carb.

The Volvo PN for the filter kit is 3854019.

3rd year without one and so far so good - knock on wood. I did filter up prior to pump just like you aerobat ( I even have a fuel filter between the tank and fuel water separator), but I also see the point Don S makes about pump particles having a free way to carb especially with all the ethanol in the gas these days.
