Going to Attempt Bravo 3 Prop Shaft Seal Replacment.

While doing maintenance on my bravo 3 drive I noticed the smaller, inner prop shaft seal had a 1/4” section of the keeper spring sticking out underneath the seal. Seal is not leaking but it looks like it’s only a matter of time as the keeper spring should not be sticking out.

I have ordered the carrier removal tool and a set of the seals for the bravo 3. I have reviewed manual 28 for the drive, but cannot tell if the inner and outer drive shaft will come apart once the carrier is removed. Can anyone confirm? Do I need any other special tools?

Is it possible to remove the smaller inner seal without removing the bearing? I’ve seen several instances where people have removed and replaced the outer seal but not the inner?

From reviewing the manual it also looks like I can reassemble this without re-shiming or adjusting preload assuming I don’t make any bearing adjustments, only replacing the seals.

I have twins so I was just going to replace the inner and outer seals on both drives.

Any other tips or pointers before I dive in?

Here are my 2 threads about replacing seals, and bearings on my Bravo 3 outdrives. The seal for the inner shaft is actually installed in the outer shaft, so it has to come apart. The outer shaft seal can be done by just removing the bearing carrier. Everything should go back together without re-shimming, etc. Just make sure not to loose any shims during dis-assembly.

Make sure you have all the special tools for disassembly/re-assembly.

The inner seal is the hardest to remove and I would not use the 2 seals to replace, I would use the single double seals for both the inner and outer instead of using the original 2 seals each

1 each Small inner seal 26-8M0033407 (replaces 2 each lip seals)
1 each Large outer seal 26-861694 (replaces 2 each lip seals)

The retainer nut (item 38) needs to be removed to get at the inner seal

AllDodge , Sorry, to clarify, I ordered 91-805374-1 which I was under the impression it is a combination of 91-805374 and 91-805382. Is that correct?

Are you also saying that I will need 91-805374 and 91-805382 in addition to 91-805374-1?

If I use the seal removal tool 91-862064a1, can i use it without disturbing the bearing?

I'm saying you need the 3 tools to remove/re-install the outer prop shaft. Didn't look to see if the 374-1 has all three tools, if it does your good.

The seal removal tool can only be used with the prop shaft removed. In my thread I show how I removed and reinstalled and tools used
