Re: Go to lure?

Home made, (including the mold, which is now multiples of polyester molds)

Super soft plastic, tons of salt, enough fish/crawfish oil scent to get me banned from the house before a complete strip and shower with the garden hose.

Fished wacky, texas, carolina, or rip jigging.

Re: Go to lure?

I have a 30 lb bag of soft plastics and another box of spinners and cranks that haven't seen the inside of the boat in years...I'm just too big a sucker for lots of action to fish for largemouths anymore.

nowadays I chase white bass & stripers with an assortment of slabs, tail-spinners (ala Little George), topwaters (tiny torpedo, etc) and swim baits (sassy shad, storm wildeye).

couple days ago (first day in weeks it didn't hit 100?), buddy & I were close to 100 when we lost count, and kept on catching for a couple hours. but I only get 4-5 days a year like that.

Rapala F9, various colors, factory original colors and custom for river fishing. Silver streak spoons for open water trolling for salmon, stinger spoons for walleye.

Ok, time to fess up about your tackle collection. Is it a potent arsenal that you regularly unleash on unsuspecting prey? Or, is it more like a woman's closet full of fancy shoes?

My tackle box is relative no more to women's shoes or anything else feminine.

I don't buy it if it isn't replacing something that I lost that catches fish or has proven itslef to someone else. I have two tackle bxes with trays that contain everything I need to catch whatever the day's target is. I am not trying to impress anyone - in fact I would prefer that most people didn't see what was in my tackle box. I have the lures I have to catch fish, not feel good about how many lures I have. If color is an issues with spoons, I tape them other colors or buy some that work in the colors that work.

People who have lures they never will use are foolish and don't impress me at all. People who catch fish consistently impress me.

Touchy touchy mark:eek:

I admit to having plenty of lures that I never use. I bought plenty of stuff to try out that didn't quite work out for me. For the most part I keep all of my "junk" in a tote in the garage.

To be honest when I go fishing I pretty much can carry everything I need on my person, so most of what's in my box is excess as well.

I'm just the kind of guy that really enjoys trying out a new lure or technique even if it is a bust. I'm not afraid to fish for hours using something that isn't working. When I finally do find a new setup that works I like a kid all over again with a new toy!!

I know I could stick to what I know works and catch a ton of fish but I like trying junk to see if it works.

My go to BTW is pretty much finesse, and spinner baits. I throw them through the thickest stuff I can get them through and they rarely disappoint.

Re: Go to lure?

fall of the year.... luhr jensen nip-diddee 5/8oz " perch color" i use it like a popper and bass hammer it. i also get pike and musky with it, suprisingly enough i have caught some walleyes and even a bluegill on the damn thing.
worst part is that rapalla owns the company and they discontinueing it so i have been buying up all i see, which is not much cuz they are always hard to find i could only get them at 2 places.

I second the motion for the Sassy Shad.pearl white, the small 2"size are a big secret around here for crappie and white bass evidently, as lots of strangers ask "what are youall fishin with"?!I usually give em a few, they should have there own jigs to stickum on.great in muddy water and rivers.

it's the only lure I use during the spring white bass spawning run, I know there's others that work, but the pearl sassy just always pays off. On days when they won't take the 2", they'll take the 2 1/2. Sometimes if the action is too slow, I like to dip the tail in chartreuse garlic-flavored spike it.

Re: Go to lure?

Ive tried the plain white also, not alot of difference in them, but the pearl outperforms the plain white about 3/1 it seems to me.bass will hit them as will channel cats also.
