Well, as I am stripping my boat, I removed a drink holder that had been broken for years. A corner needs to be glued back on it. I have the broken peice, but just wondering what glue would be best? Thanks

Ohhhh that's a tough one. Probably epoxy and I would not swear that it will last. Teak is unique wood and maybe hunting down a replacement piece could be the only answer.

Re: Gluing Teak???

If the broken piece is big enough, i would suggest drilling and putting a peg into the broken part to increase the glue area. Teak is very oily but here are glues meant for it

here is one http://www.glueoakandteak.com/

look at their directions for guidance

Ya, I figured it was tough becouse of it being oily. And its a pretty good size peice. Its the top of the cup holder that ran across the full width of the engine cover.

Gorilla Glue or any other poly based glue will work.

I would try the gorilla glue and if you do have the room a few dowells or biscuts would help it stay togather. Also use some pipe clamps to hold it tight until the glue sets, just don't squeeze all of the glue out by getting nuts with the pipe clamps. Titebond also now makes a glue that would be well suited for that application, its a resin type(light brown but transperent) and it is exterior rated. Sometimes hard to find but any woodcrafter type store will carry it. If you are not confident it will hold once glued you could make a gussett out of 25 ga. sheetmetal or aluminum and bridge the repair from underneath, use 9/16 pan head screws with an appropriate pilot hole or glue the metal on with some 5200 fast cure..

I was a yacht joiner for some time. so I can tell you with confidence, Epoxy is the way to go. Get the slowest cure epoxy you can find. Fast cure Epoxies are less water resistant. Wipe the joints out with acetone, apply epoxy to both pieces and clamp overnight. Any "squeeze out" can be cut away with a single edge razor blade when cured. Sand and re-varnish.... Done:D

Hope that helps.

Agree with the others - Gorilla Glue.
Second choice would be TiteBond III.
