What does it sound like?
1972 165 hp Mercruiser 250 L6. 18' Glassmaster Trihull
Just noticed a whirring noise a couple of weeks ago after running a short distance (full to cruise power) to a favorite fishing spot. I noticed it after idling down. Back at home on the muffs I couldn't hear it so I took it out again last weekend and heard it again. This morning I could hear it on the muffs but it isn't a loud noise, only a whirring that I did not have before.
It does it in forward, reverse and neutral. Cannot hear it at all under power on the water.
Ideas?
