Gimbal housings

Morning can anyone tell me if a alpha one Gen 2 1993 gimbal housing will replace a worn out 2000 alpha one Gen 2 gimbal housing , I’m asking if the different years are interchangeable.

Gen II to Gen II works fine, How does one "wear out" a gimbal housing?
If you do need a later one, I have one available

The gimbal bear8ng spun and housing is now sloppy and how much do you need for yours

Do you mean the tolerance ring was spinning in the housing or the gimbal bearing spinning in the tolerance ring

The gimbal bearing can be place in housing by hand and the housing where bar8ng seats is rough up where bearing seats

You need a transom housing then not a gimbal housing, this is the tolerance ring . You say it spins in the transom housing?

Hey guys, most of this topic is headed in the wrong direction in regards to iboats "solicitation" guidelines...Any talk of buying and selling items needs to be done via PM and even at that it shouldn't be a consistent approach to every-time something pops up like this one.....One here one there only sort-of goes overlooked but it's becoming way more evident that it's happening much much more as of late.....Please slow that roll way down for the respect of the hosts of iboats forums wishes....Thanks in advance....iboats Mod team.

You need a transom housing then not a gimbal housing,

Pretty much the same thing terminology wise as since the parts catalog from the factory uses the same word for the complete outer housing.

There are a few subtle changes that happened over the years but nothing too drastic that couldn't be overcome for installation purposes that i recall at the moment.

Ebay is good. Salvaged boats provide these parts. New are available from Merc., but the price may make you swear off boating. And that would be bad.

New is available on iboats. They sell oem.
