File a formal complaint through e-bay. If he's a frequent seller, he won't want the bad publicity.

On the other hand, popping the flywheel for a looksee isn't to hard to do.

I would not touch the motor. if this becomes a legal problem. you taking the fly wheel off would give the dealer a good excuse to why it is not running right. (example in court)dealer you removed parts and worked on the motor who knows what you messed up. give dealer a good excuse to why its not running right.just my opinion.

Caveat Emptor or somethin like that. I hate to hear of people getting the deal like that. It happened to me with an outboard ignition system, in which the trigger and stator were shot. Still haven't tried the CD unit or the coils, but have my doubts they are any good at all.

How was your motor shipped? Was it crated, strapped to a pallet, or simply hoisted into the back of a pickup truck?

Something may have happened in shipping. Double-check the firing order, to insure that the right plug wire is on the right plug. Look at the plugs, anmd make sure non of them got cracked in shippment.

Since the flywheel is off I think the seller was telling you to check to flywheel key to see if it was sheared. Regardless, when you put the flywheel back on torque the nut to the proper specifications or it will shear when you start it up. Since you've gone this far squirt some premix in the carb throats and see if it will fire. Then you can go from there.
