Gelcoating keel

I am a new boat owner I purchased a 1997 wellcraft 20ft open bow. I read a lot of online info on gelcoating but not sure if it’s what I need.
I have a 2’ section on the keel on the bottom where the fiberglass is showing. The fiberglass looks in good shape with no gouges or cracks. The owner I purchased from was a river boater who beached his boat which rubbed off the gel coat. I will attach a video of it as well.
My question is that if I roll the gel coat on is this good enough to protect the keel and hull of the boat from future damage. The boat will be pulled out of water when I’m done for the day as I don’t have a lake house where it will sit in the water.

Yes, the gelcoat will protect that area. A couple of coats of poly resin would protect it as well. You might add some colorant to either to help hide the damage.

You will need to scuff the area, then roll on the gel.

I would suggest a keel guard if you intend to beach

You cam see what I did here. I used white gelcoat from US Composites and a 4" mohair roller and a 2" chip brush. I thickened the gelcoat a little with cabosil so it wouldn't run. It took about 3 coats i thin. I'm not worried about how it looks because I'm installing a keel shield from Gator Guards.

you have some pin holes. I would do another layer on the areas with the pinholes.
