Hi All,

I want to polish out some minor oxidation on my gelcoat...and reading many posts here and elsewhere, alot of people recommend either dewalt or makita 9" varible speed units with appropriate pads. I was wanting to use a Porter Cable orbital, with smaller pads and an overall smaller unit. Mostly for ease of handling vrs. the larger 9" unit. The Porter Cable is also variable speed....is there a reason to not use this....i want to buy this week and get started. Any opinions appreciated

It will work though maybe a bit slower. Heck, you could rub by hand for that matter. The compound is more important.

Your really gonna want a rotary buffer .. not an orbital.

You need to heat the gelcoat to rub it out. The Porter Cable will do good for polishing .. not rubbing out.
