I am having a problem with water spot/calcium build-up around the AC water outlets and cannot remove with just Marine wax. I am afraid to use rubbing compound that will remove the shine, but it may be gone anyway. Any help? Somebody suggested CLR but afarid that would destroy the finish(?)I have a taupe color boat

Re: Gel Coat Water Spots

toilet bowl cleaner does one heck of a job on hard water stains.....

clr wont hurt the gellcoat if you wash it off right away......

gellcoat is one really really tough surface...

there is a number of products on the market designed for just that purpose....but some tmes the simple things work best.

cheers

anything that gets the stains will also remove the wax, not a big deal.

i'd start with vinegar, dilute it with water 50% or not. it won't hurt anything but should knock the water spots right off.

rubbing compound won't steal your shine, uv/dirt/time does that. clr, toilet bowl cleaner...lots to chose from.

whatever you use, rinse well afterward and apply wax.

The CLR kitchen and bath sray on worked perfectly with little scrubbing to get the water spot buildup off.
Thanks for the tip.

We have really hard water here, and I have tried everything under the sun. In the end nothing worked better than Citrus Juice and Vinegar.

It sometimes takes awhile, but if it is stubborn lay a couple of layers of paper towels on the stains, soak with full power solution, and let stand for awhile. Rinse and repeat as needed.
