Gel coat question?

Hi,
I want to change the color of the inside of the boat I am rebuilding. The color now is a blueish grey and I do not like it. I want to change it to white because Its what I like. If someone could walk me through the process I would be very greatful.

Sanding, followed by quality topside boat paint.

With the topside paint would I use the polyurethane paint?
