I just boat a 91 Glastron that had been sitting for a few years in a barn uncovered. It was very dusty once I washed all the dirt off I noticed that the gel coat has a yellow tint around all the vinyl. The vinyl is in good shape just a little discolored...I dont know it is some kind of mold but I was wondering if there is any kind of wax or cleaner that will take off the yellowing?

im sorry ......your discription of the gellcoat "around the vinyl" kinda confuses me.....the gell coat is the paint like stuff all over your boat......where does it come on contact with the vinyl?.....uasually any vinyl is a screw on or snap on situation.....so im kinda confused.

acietone eats just about anything....but not too much....ittl eat your gell coat as well.

gell coat yellowing can also be buffed out with a light sand paper....1500 grit.

you can also use rubbing compound......but its a pita

is the yellowing everywhere or mainly where people's hands grab or backs or legs lean against? i've noticed yellowing but it seems to be from oils or suntan lotions on people's skin.

either way, rubbing compound should take care of it but often the vinyl is in the way. you should be able to figure out how things were mounted to they can be removed to make it easier.

Its just like 2-3inch outline of yellow everywhere vinyl touches the gel coat
