Gearing out of wack

I just replaced my impeller on my 2000 merc 15 hp 2 stroke. Problem is my nuetral is in forward and I can't seem to get any other gearing to work. Any help?

Did you get the pin in the hole at the top of the shifting rod. Easy to miss

Yes the rod is connected. I think I read on here something about turning the main shaft rod and flywheel to engage in the right gear to start

When you shift turn the propeller until it clicks you could be just not meshing in the gear case. Should be no reason you do not have shifting if everything is the same as before.

I just dropped the lower unit again and when I try reverse I don't have any more throttle from it. It just goes into reverse and that's it. When I put it in forward it just revs with no prop turn. It all worked before I dropped to change impeller. Also where about do I tighten that rod gizmo and why does it have to push on that black u shaped arm

Thanks to all but I got it working. The linkage rod needed to be adjusted so now it works
