Gearcase options for my outboard

1968 merc 650 inline 4. Curious if they made a racing Gearcase or if they have anything better then what came with it. Mine is fine as I just recently rebuilt it, but was wondering if there were other options to look into. Serial # 2451682

Racing gearcases are only useful on " fast boats "====What boat do you have ?-----Yes,if you dig around you can find a sleek lower unit to fit.

I would have to tame it way down which isn’t an issue. Was looking into one simply for the fact it sits higher rather than going through making a custom riser for the outboard. It’s a 15’ trihull I converted. Mainly just curious what is out there.

That engine never was offered as a performance model. RPM is 4800-5200, anything over that power drops off and runs risk of breaking piston skirts as piston is a crossflow type design
