HI peps,
I got a 67 evinrude 60hp any ideas how much gas i should be burning. I went on 6 gallon of gas in less than 1 hour is that even possible. How do we determine the gas usage on this motor? Is it burning too much excessive gas? Any tips much appreciate. Thanks

6 to 7 gallons an hours is about right if you were running at WOT.

Fill with gas, start timer, run at WOT until you run out, stop timer :)

Outboards eat lots of gas at WOT. You just have to come up with a speed/throttle position that gets you from point a to b at the most efficient ratio of time to fuel.

10 % of the horse power at wot is what you'll use. 6 gal/hr is normal. Back off the throttle until the throttle plates just almost close and your timing is still advanced and that's where you'll get the best mileage.

there are magnets installed between the speedometer and the gas gauge................ the higher the speed, the faster the gas says good bye.

but it is a lot of fun, though, huh???
