Anyone have any thoughts of putting the gas tanks under the deck? Any pro's/con's to this?

My tank is under the bow. I wish it were in the belly just for the extra storage.
If and when the floor ever needs replacing, I have a belly tank waiting.

There's only one con and that's if you plan on relocating to a different part of the boat. That will change the balance of the boat and may cause it to ride oddly. If you can get it below deck in the same proximity as the current tank it shouldn't be a problem. You just have to remember that you have to fill it and vent it so choose a location that will let you run hoses to it.

ditto.....^^^^^^^^

most new boats have belly tanks.

but if you have a older searay......they are in the forcastle for a reason.

if you belly it....MAKE SURE THERE IS VENTELATION......gass fumes ride low.....lost of chance to go boom !

Actually it is a much older boat (72) Doesn't have a tank in the belly now but was thinking while the deck is up and it's easy to put it in might as well do it. it will save space on the top of the deck. Was thinking a foot or two from the bilge box so that the hose doesn't have to be very long. How about grounding them? Right to the neg terminal on the bat?

You might wanna go more forward. What size tank did you have in mind. I'm thinking a 20 gallon is on the smaller side for belly tank and should wind up in between the seats for better weight distribution. You can then route the plumbing down and underneath a seat thru the floor to hide it.
This is a common area where I plan to put the one in my 'Ray...just where it came out of slightly later model.

The best location for a tank is in the floor, amidship. Tanks in the bow wreak havoc on tongue weight and trailer balance.

This is a relatively minor issue. The axle slides easily. The important part is to get it to track properly.
Plus there's always the rest of the gear.
