I have an 18 ft Dixie Runabout w/ a 90 horse mercury. 1978. My question is how big is the gas tank? Yes it runs great. HELP!

As big as you can fit without getting in the way. However, depends on how long you are staying out, and what you are doing.

The tank should be marked with capacity. An 18 footer of that vintage will have a 30-35 gal tank, I would think.

Why not fill a 6 gal tank, and run the main tank dry, come home on the remote tank and see what it takes to fill it.

Thank you for the info and suggestion. Going to add staybil for the winter. I think it’s one ounce for every ten gallons. Is that correct?

Stabil should have the proportions on the label. I believe Marine Stabil (the blue variety) has a different mix than the red variety. I always just go by what the label says, then add a bit more.

So this guess of fuel tank size is for adding fuel stabilizer? What a concept!

It's an inland boat. I doubt it has anything bigger than an 18 gallon. FWIW I put nearly twice the amount of StaBil called for. You never know what's going to happen in your life during off season. It could be over two years before you get back on the boat again.
