$18,50 for 5.5 gallons (1x12liter, 2x5liter tanks)!

$30 for a liter (about 1/4 of a gallon) of outboard two stroke oil!

... and it is almost all TAXES!

I know my usage figures with a 6hp motor, pale by comparision to most others, but still ...

$38.90

PS - price of gas doesn't bother me anymore... the bubbles about to burst and a lot of people who thought they'd get rich investing in oil are abou to lose a lot of money.

Re: gas prices pissing me off how about you

Three weeks ago the truck drivers in Britain all stopped where they were at at the time, blocking all roads in country. Bringing the country to a standstill. Two weeks ago their motorcyclist went on a slow ride reducing the country to a crawl. This was all to protest the taxes on fuel in their country.

Germany on the other hand is trying to push through yet another tax increase on gasoline. People complain, but do nothing here. In 20+ years in this country, I have never seen the gas prices go down more than a couple of cents at a time, and that just for the short term. If it goes down further, the government just raises the taxes again. Once they get their greedy little hands in your pocket, they never take it out.

For the heavy taxing governments, high gas prices are like winning the lotto, they have no desire for it to sink.

The $2300 (double or tripple that number, and you know what we are stuck with) a month you go through for boat gas, is more than the average, before tax, income for a family of four in Germany. $6 or $7000+ a month for boat gas is a luxuary most of them just can't afford.

CNN ran a piece this morning about Palestine, they are paying the equivalent of $50 a gallon for gas, if they can get it. They, as are many Europeans, are running salad oil in the diesels. On the other end of the spectrum, I have a friend who is working as a contractor in Oman, he pays 22 cents a gallon for his H1 Hummer.

I know in the 70's everyone was speaking of the doom & gloom, and the end of the world if the prices didn't go down, they did a little, but mostly we just got used to it.

I do hope like you, it does return to the prices of the past, but that hope is real thin.

If I would fill up at my marina with a bone dry tank,,,,,,,$580. Its 100 gallon capacity and since I do my boating on a small lake, I'll only put about 30 gallons at a time in it. No need to use more gas to haul gas around that I don't need to use right away. I put it in as I need it. Mostly I stay tied up at the dock and converse with others that do the same.

You see that here also, boat people of the past, are turning into people who talk about boats, but can no longer afford to use them. The last remaining Marina here has set up outdoor tables and was selling sausages & beer the last time I was there trying to cover cost.

I tried three times (different stores, three suppliers) this week to get boat gear, only to be told (3x) their supplier had just gone bankrupt, and they didn't know how long it would take to restock. Just spent $15 for a catalog from one of them.

The gas prices and the economy is killing them one after the other.

P.S. Man It would be nice to be retired with a good pension, a paid for house, a baby boomer nest egg, and a lot of free time. The boat bargains out there are great. People are just giving them away.

We considered going with a sail boat, but sailing on a river with a lot of barge traffic, giant hotel boats, and locks every 5-10 miles (or less), is not much fun.

Wind power is really nice way to boat though! :D

Just hope they don't find a way to tax it!

Oil should be at about 60% of the current market- Hedge Fund managers are driving the cost as they gamble on futures. The only way to drop the price of oil is for demand to drop- as long as demand is strong they will continue to gamble in the market

And/Or increase production. Start punching holes in the ground.

So far this year has been cheap on gas. The weather has s*cked so bad I've only been out 3 times and burned one tank worth.
IF I can get out this weekend I'll have to fill up. About 40gal, $160-170 range. But the weather is looking Iffy.
Again.

Agree completely. Outta the ground and into my tank as fast and cheap as possible, yet if the friggin weather keeps on like it is I may never need to fill up again. Been out twice, fueled up once, $170.

That would be nice but it won't happen. They are not going to work harder to save us money. Only we can help ourselve, STOP spending 150-200 bucks on the boat gas. I'm so mad at the prices that I cut spending and stop bitching. I am now spending more time thinking about how to deal with cabin fever then going fishing. I have come to accept that to stay in the game I have to adapt to the new rules, otherwise, I will be foul out.
