I have a Johnson seahorse 18 hp model FD 13R, serial #963266. I would appreciate any info you guys can give me on this model. I don't know the year and what the mix should be. I would also like to know where to find parts. thanks

Re: gas mix

Welcome to Iboats, Freewilly!

FD-13 is a 1959 18hp. As such I would use the factory recommended mix of 24:1 (1 quart of oil for 6 gallons of fuel). Use TC-w3 outboard oil and 87 octane gas.

Plugs should be Champion J4C (replacing J4J) gapped at .030". Some people find .035" runs at low speed a little better.

Lower unit fluid should be OMC/BRP "HiVis" or equivalent 90 weight outboard gearcase lube.

What parts are you after? Most common consumables are available both aftermarket and from the OEM. And what isn't available from those sources is easily found in a junkyard or ebay. There's lots of support out there for that engine.

Re: gas mix

I had a 58 18hp that some guy tossed out with the trash by me a couple years ago. Froze up good. Grabbed it, and I SOLD EVERY PART ON EBAY, and made a bundle. Even the frozen block. Good motors, watch Ebay for parts.

Re: gas mix

Thanks for that valuable info. The part I need is the motor mount. The throttle handle part of it is cracked. I did check ebay and so far nothing. I'll keep looking. Thanks again.
