Gas leaking out of one carb?

Hey so when I pump the primer bulb gas is leaking out of only one carb. I took the carb off and took the float bowl out and cleaned it. Didn’t look that dirty. Everything looked normal but I’ve also only cleaned carbs a handful of times. So we will have to see what happens when I put it back on the motor. Just wanted to ask if anyone’s got any ideas on why it’s doing this and why it’s only on one carb. Thanks.

The carb bowl is not likely the culprit. The carb float and inlet needle is likely the guilty party. Clean it and try it. If she still leaks, replace at least the inlet needle and seat. If the float looks suspect, replace that and the gaskets.

So I put the carb back in. Now it’s leaking gas out of the top carb and still won’t idle. Kinda lost.

Did you replace the needle? i used a qtip with a dab of brass o to polish up the brass needle seat in the bottom of the carb. That helped mine stop leaking. Did you check the float height?

No I just cleaned everything. The needle looked fine. How do I check float height?

So I just blew some compressed air into the intake hose and moved the float up and down to see if the needle was seating and it was when I pushed the needle down I stopped hearing the air so

I just did the same thing to the top carb and I can very slightly hear a tiny bit of air coming out. Not much at all tho. When I pushed the needle down damn near all of the noise stopped. Not sure if a little bit is acceptable or none is

Get rebuild kits and rebuild them correctly ! Just cleaning does not work well very often.

Took the top carb off and found this debris in one of the jets plugging the hole. Would this cause it to overflow?

You now have some experience working on your carbs. You only need to take the advice given to you by airshot. Thats it. But yes , of course debris in the jets will cause issues. You may need to address fuel before the engine issues . I hope not. Good luck.

So now I put both the old and new needle in and sprayed some pb blaster on the needle and blew some compressed air into the intake of the carb and I could hear and see the bubbles coming out from around the needle. The needles aren’t seating correctly.

I adjusted the float height and it’s not leaking now. Hopefully it’ll idle.
