I have a 24' pontoon with a 1985 75 hp mercury. It starts right up and idles good.it runs fine in gear but when you give it the gas, it boggs and dies. I put fresh gas in the tanks and installed a new gas line and fittings which did not solve the problem. What should i try next?

Re: Gary zoar

You didnt give much info really...
How long has it sat before you tried running it?
Is this a new problem, was it running correctly recently?
Sounds as though you may have a fuel delivery problem.
You are probably gonna have to clean the carbs if it has sat for an extended period of time.

+1 on cleaning carbs. If you dont know how to do properly, have it done. You dont want to miss anything.Running an engine w/clogged carb(s) is not good!If your motor isnt getting sufficient gas, then its not getting sufficient oil. Also, just rebuild fuel pump while youre at it.All this is is assuming you have good compression,of course.

+2 on cleaning carbs.

Dirty idle jets restricting flow cause an acceleration 'bog' on an otherwise fine running motor.
