Download software to SD card on computer and install in unit.

No idea on inland chip.

Being a coastal guy, I ordered the X4 unit came pre-loaded with a full compliment of coastal charts.

Did you not order the 53 version that includes inland maps?

Whether the cards are worth the money depends on where you boat…the cards for the Illinois and Mississippi rivers are quite good.

If your unit only came with the "world base map", then yes, The Garmin Navionics map chip is worth it.
