Garmin Data Card Update for Garmin 188C

Hello,

First time boat owner here and have a question about the garmin that came with my boat. It's a Garmin 188C that comes with the older style Data Cards, how can I go about getting it updated besides shelling out some cash to get the reader software and update? What's a cost effective way of getting it updated?

Garmin has very good support. Call them and they will help you. what chip do you have. You may have to update you system software to be compatible. I bought the whole east coast chip from maine to florida for $150. I have a GPS398 with all the lakes in the US it has worked very well for me!!!
