Gamefisher 5hp water pump question

Hi, new here, Have a 5hp Gamefisher model number 225.587500 outboard, How can you tell if the water pump is pumping properly? Thanks

if you havent replaced the impeller in 2-3 years, start there

how do you know it's pumping water properly? or do you just rely on temperature? What should the temperature be?

Is there water coming out of the pisser? Is the motor over heating? Regardless if you don't know how old it is replace it.

Is that a Force motor? the parts come up as Mercury Quicksilver. Impeller lists at about $100

Its a Force motor and. Its a 1998 long shaft 5 hp. If you see water spraying out the exhaust ports your good. Check ebay for the impeller they are cheap.
