Quick, hopefully simple question. I replaced all the seals last summer on the lower unit. This past weekend I went to change the lube in the lower unit and check for water.... It was FULL of water.
The culprit was the shift link seal ( part # 26-817472; iboat # 18-0500 Sierra). It had popped out of the seat. I want to make sure I am installing the next one correctly. The seal is basically half rubber and half metal. Which was faces "up" towards the engine and away from the lower unit? The metal or rubber side?
This sears diagram shows it as seal #29
