I got the seal out very easily. I drilled a small hole in the seal, screwed in a body dent puller, and ,bam, one slide back with the hammer weight and it came right out! Now i go to work on the snap rings. Volvo AQ145A / 280 outdrive shaft bearing replacement. No cuss words needed.

I got the first snap ring. Second one will be more difficult. Volvo AQ145A / 280 outdrive shaft bearing replacement.

Got second snap ring out, now, the shaft wont budge. Tried clamping vice grips over a rag to protect splines and it just slips off and the shaft is refusing to come out. Any ideas????? 1981 Volvo AQ145A / 280 Intermediate shaft removal.

Pull the engine. If your PDS is not threaded internally it's the only way.

I was afraid of that. Okay, I guess that will have to happen now. Besides ,it will allow me to replace the pilot shaft bearing at the engine end. Thanks. (1981 Volvo AQ145A / 280 intermediate shaft bearing replacement).
