The installation of the Chartplotter notes that the unit must be grounded. The manufacturer says this must be grounded to a plate measuring 20 cm by 30 cm. The wiring diagrams with the unit show two grounds , one with the power cord (shield) and another at the back of the unit to a wing nut.

Do both grounds do the same thing or are they for different purposes? What is best way to ground through the power cord (shield)? What is best way to ground the wing nut connection?

The boat is a MAKO 19. The electrical system diagram for the model denotes a gound block (connected only to the baitwell) and there is another ground associated with unnamed electrical block that says ETO? Do not know what ETO stands for.

Any suggestions to make this work and make it a neat solution. What size wire is best.

Many thanks

I wouldn't worry about that. It is normally used on larger vessels with a bonding and/or earth ground system. On your particular installation I wouldn't worry. hook black to dc ground and the white to a dc positive acc switch. If you must perko makes grounding plates but there not cheap.
