Craigslist is the best way to find a cheap boat! I picked up a 1972 South Coast Sea Craft 22 footer sailboat for 300$ Hull is fine, mast is fine, rigging is fine, even came with 5 good sails and a TON of extra hardware and rigging! AND a good but rusty trailer!

Ok, so this isn't boat related, but you would think if you're really bad at spelling, you would run your ad through a spell check first. I wouldn't buy this in the first place, but this would just really turn me off to the sale if I were.

Your asking too much of some people, many have not yet figured out how to even spell 'Boat', let alone trailer or anything else.

LOL...I'm also getting tired of seeing ads for "trihole" boats! Learn what a hull is!! Maybe they're just being honest about how many actual holes are in the hull

Some interrestings ads from our neck of the woods:

Not a "real" boat http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/boa/1077640141.html but the quote "Please see the photos as I can't possibly describe how beautiful this is in words." followed by "No reasonable offer will be refused" is priceless...

Or this one http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/boa/1072599248.html including a pic of a hammer-type gear puller! Bad omen you say!

The list goes on...http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/boa/1067094448.html incredible: "EXCELLENT SHAPE - NEEDS RESTORE, LESS THAN 100 ORIGINAL HOURS - STORED FOR over 20 yrs! No RUST."

Not really TLC.....but it always makes me laugh to see a feud going on about a boat. In this case, this guy is selling this boat:

http://wilmington.craigslist.org/boa/1080530994.html

And in response, this guy (likely the previous owner) has this to say about the boat...

http://wilmington.craigslist.org/boa/1080670685.html

(If the link gets flagged/deleted, it says "this carpet bagger bought this boat for 900.00 and wanting 2500 his half a## floor repair is not worth 1600.00 i hope you never sell it seeing you have had it about three months it's looking good for you")

DRAMA!

I can't see why a former owner would care what the new owner does with the boat, he sold it? Without seeing the boat, or for that matter, he's only asking $2500, if the motor and trailer are good, it's probably not too far off.
Figuring that a buyer could probably buy it for a lot less with cash.

Even if the deck is a botch job, if it's a turn key boat, its worth every bit of that. Even if the deck needs redoing.
For me personally, I'd want nothing to do with it, it's not my type of boat and I know better than to get involved in a boat with a rotted and patched floor, but for the average guy, who just don't care and only wants a boat to beat on for the summer, its probably perfect.

I have lots of buddies that buy a different boat every year, beat it to death all summer, and dump it when fall comes or next spring. All that it has to do is run and not sink. They trash the boat no matter what it is, so condition don't matter, most will just toss a loose piece of ply over a soft floor anyway. They would no way consider fixing one right because it most likely won't run or float when the summer is out anyway. Almost always they are able to sell it for as much or close to the amount they paid for it, even if it needs patching or serious work.
