Funny riding test for license.

In my county, the state gives the motorcycle riding test on Wednesdays and then only if you set an appointment. (Just not a lot of folks out here taking it.)

I started trying to take it three weeks ago only to be rained out at the last minute each time. I took the written test nearly a month ago and aced it and just needed to do the riding portion. Right on schedule I pull the bike to town on the trailer and get it unloaded and the sky gets darker. Went in, let them know I was there for my test and take a seat.

Trooper comes out, see's me and said, "Haven't you been here the last two or three weeks" and I tell him yes. He said "Lets go get this taken care of then", opens the back door for us to go to the parking lot and,,, it's POURING! He eye balls my bike across the lot, then me, then signs off on my riding test and says, "I am not going out in that rain but if it means enough for you to show up in the rain three weeks in a row I know you are serious, go get your license" and hands me the completed test with everything marked passed.

Sometimes, things just fall into place.

Sounds like getting the bike past the cops was easier than getting it past the Admiral.

In NY, the motorcycle road test is conducted on the streets with an instructor following you in a car. The wait is sometimes over a month for an appointment. When I took the test (tight figure 8 in the parking lot and a stay within the lines course, followed by a 5 minute ride through the local streets.), I was shocked to find out I failed! I asked why and was told I made a right on red. I said it is legal to make a right on red. He said yes, but not during the exam. Sure enough buried in the exam rules booklet that I received 2 minutes before the exam is a sentence that stated that rights on red are not permitted. I was ticked off when I found out it was a six week wait for the next appointment. The second instructor I had couldn't believe I failed for the right on red, and that he passes people regularly after rights on red. When I showed him the failure notice, he saw the signature and told me that the instructor was arrested for drinking while conducting exams. Have to admit I didn't have any pity for him.

Bubba,

I was just wondering why you went to the trouble of taking the bike there on a trailer? You could have gotten a motorcycle permit and then you could have ridden the bike to the test.

On second thought, at least with the trailer you stayed dry on the ride home.:rain::rain:

Congratulations and welcome to the bike world. In Va if you pass the state safety course you don't have to take the tests. What are you riding?

I got failed on my first road test. The huge instructer,to big to rie a bike, radioed me to turn right at the next stopsign. I'm on the outside edge of the lane,but there is a parking spot next to the lane/intersection. She pull's into the parking spot while I check for traffic,blinker on.she radios, go ahead,we finish up,back at the dmv,FAILED! I left to much room for someone to pass on the right, at a stopsign? Passing on the right is illegal here,AND really,it's a parking spot! Next test she tried the same dam thing but
I played my squeeze card on her. She passed me but said I cut over to fast into the parking spot. I'd think if someone was behind ya,they would think I was parking the bike there and run me down when we both turn at the same time! My rant is over now....

grub not to tweak you but, after 30 years of riding in WI I would completely agree with your tester. You are not allowed to park within 15 feet of a stop sign and if you pulled up to one and left room a car would definitely do the same thing to you that she did. Food for thought. Not trying to yank you just trying to demonstrate it from her point. turn signal means nothing to a car driver who needs to go that way and has room.

nice bike. Have you worked out that to turn fast you need to steer the other way then twist the right wrist to get the bike to stand back up.

50% of riders do not know how to steer in a corner which is kinda intresting if you find road kill

originally from the uk and your right about florida. Im not allowed a bike over here as drivers dont respect bikers and i kinda op's-ed the last bike i owned in the uk on one of those pesky corners so the wife has me on a short leash

funy for all the riding I have done, I almost biffed it on an S curve in FL. Always wanted to ride in Germany while I was there but didn't have the coin to get a European bike license.
