Hope to get discussions on how to have some fun with scammers, and if anything else take up their time so they have less for others.

Put up a Craigslist (CL) add, and in less then 5 minutes I get a text which started with the title of add and price. First thing I thought of was scam because the person does it this way to keep track.

Short version, we have all heard
Guy says he's interested and will send a check, wait for it to clear and then pick up. I reply cash only, and yada, yada he gives up

What I thought about doing was have him send the check. Would contact the bank it was "drawn on" and verify its bogus. Then contact LEO, FTC, FBI, other and supply them with info. Since it was mailed its now mail fraud and Feds come in

In the mean time I keep stalling that I have not been notified its cleared or other things to keep him on the hook.

Any other ideas?

Any other ideas?
my ideas for dealing with spammers usually involve zip ties, two batteries, a set of jumper cables, some leather strapping soaked in water, a tazer and pliers to pull the spammers toe nails out.

the other idea is to post their information on the dark web with a bounty on their head (literally) for some zealot to hunt them down.

the check thing I think would end up costing you a stop payment fee. however dont think the local LEO's have the resources to track down the spam scum as they are too numerous.

Might be, but my thought was not to deposit the check, just get them to send it. Once received then start the other process to delay and cause them problems

You may need an alternative identity because they will chase, hack and disrupt your life if something does happen to them.

When they tell me they can fix my computer I just say to ----" send me a box of parts to fix it myself "----Lots of fun that way.

My latest entertainment is when the calls come in because my cars warranty is ending, I select "1" to speak with an agent. They always start by asking to verify the year and make of my car. So, I started with a 1908 Ford and time how long it takes them to hang up on me. I'm up to a 1930 Buick.

I like it. I hang up on warranty calls and the like, then go to FTC site and enter the call info. Since I started doing that I've hardly get them anymore

FTC has put some large fines on them
